California Highway Patrol Warning About Bogus Telemarketing Calls

Sacramento, CA — The California Highway Patrol is warning about telemarketers making calls asking for donations to a fund that doesn´t exist.

The CHP says people throughout the state have been getting calls asking them to donate to a fund called the “California Highway Patrol´s Widows and Orphans Fund.”

Though there is a fund with a similar name, the CHP says it never solicits funds from the general public.

Some of the bogus calls have been traced to a phone number in Canada.
