Sonora, CA — CHP and the Sonora Police Department will be staging another sobriety checkpoint this weekend.
Lt. Mike Ayala with CHP says the checkpoint tomorrow night will be staffed by both Sonora Police officers and CHP patrolmen with high tech breath testing devices, as well as drug recognition experts.
Ayala says that all cars will be stopped, traffic permitting, and those determined to be intoxicated will be arrested.
The checkpoint will be in place from 9 pm to 3am at an unspecified location.
Ayala says the goal of the checkpoints is to target roads with a high frequency of drunk driving and to deter motorists from drinking and driving.
