Sacramento, CA — Officials have released the results of the state´s STAR exam and the news is good for students in the Mother Lode.
The results show a rise in passing rates for schools in both Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.
The report says 64% of Tuolumne County fourth graders passed the English portion of the exam as compared with 50% last year.
Ninth graders also show an improvement, with 54% passing this year compared to last year´s 48%.
Meanwhile second graders in Calaveras County showed a six percentage point improvement over last year in math, while 51% of fourth graders passed this year as compared to 44% last year.
State School Superintendent Jack O´ Connel calls the gains over the past five years “impressive.”
