Womens Clothing Store Destroyed By Blaze

Modesto, CA — Modesto fire investigators say a fire that destroyed a women´s clothing shop and damaged several neighboring businesses in the McHenry Village shopping center yesterday morning was arson.

Battalion Chief Hugo Patino said he thinks the blaze, which caused more than $2 million in damages, was set intentionally outside the rear of the store.

Hammett´s Women´s Wear has been in business for 60 years and the owners say they plan to rebuild.
