Sonora, CA — Officials with P.G.& E. say a decision to close all of its company payment centers will result in better and more accessible service to its customers.
P.G.& E. spokeswoman Emily Barnett says that the company plans to increase the number of area pay stations to give customers more convenience in paying bills.
Barnett says only about 6% of P.G.& E. customers use the payment centers and the closures will result in a cost savings of about $20 million.
Barnett says that money will most likely be reinvested back into the company´s infrastructure.
Barnett adds that the move will not result in any job loss as staff members at the closed locations will be reassigned withing the company.
The closures are expected to be complete by 2007.
