Sonora, CA – A Sonora woman who police say had several past DUIs was allegedly caught drinking and driving again, this time in the parking lot of a local liquor shop.

A caller reported seeing an intoxicated female driving a red Jeep in downtown Sonora to police dispatch last Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026. Officers spotted the matching vehicle and the suspected driver, 51-year-old Tara Hill, at Restano Liquor located at 10 Restano Way.

According to SPD officials, while questioning Hill, the officer decided to conduct a Standard Field Sobriety test and determined Hill was under the influence. The person who called 911 also identified Hill as the woman they saw driving the Jeep.

Additionally, a records check revealed that Hill had three prior DUIs within the last three years and was on probation. Hill was arrested and taken to the Tuolumne County Jail, where she was booked for felony DUI with prior convictions, misdemeanor DUI while on probation, and misdemeanor driving with a suspended license for DUI.
