Sonora, CA — Officials with the Tuolumne Utilities District are warning residents of the Big Hill area that a critical water shortage is possible if extreme conservation measures aren´t adopted immediately.
Last week the district announced that the main water canal would be shut down for annual ditch maintenance.
TUD says the only source of water during the closure is from storage tanks, reservoirs and wells.
A report from TUD says that based on the current trend and predictions of dry weather for this week, Big Hill residents will run out of water by Sunday.
TUD officials continue to stress the importance of conservation during the maintenance period.
