San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County officials are going underground, with their utilities that is.
Monday the board will announce its intent to create an underground utility district in San Andreas.
The goal is to move PG&E´s power poles and other utilities below the streets.
Some of the work along Highway 49 from Mountain Ranch Road to Main Street is already done. What´s left is from Main Street to Pool Station Road and up Mountain Ranch Road.
Engineering and construction would take about four years.
If the intent is approved Monday, a public hearing for affected property owners would be set for November 14th.
