San Andreas, CA — By a unanimous vote of the Calaveras Unified School District Board of Trustees, there will be no change to the current middle school configuration.
Tuesday the board went with the recommendation of staff not to change to a kindergarten through eighth-grade set up, as proposed earlier this year.
The idea was prompted by the district´s middle school not meeting its Adequate Yearly Progress measurement set by the No Child Left Behind Act.
District Administrator Betty White said through a series of community meetings over the last few months, parents and staff showed overwhelming support for keeping the middle school program.
White added that Toyon Middle School would be looking at ways to make the needed improvements.
Also, the district has developed a guide for all of its schools in the case of similar deficiencies.
