Stockton, CA — Police shot and killed a man outside a high school over the weekend after he threatened them with a wooden stake.

The incident occurred last night as students were returning to Cesar Chavez High School from a band competition.

School officials say the man was asking for money and bothering families. Police responded and found the man holding a stake.

Police say the man ignored orders to surrender and was pepper-sprayed. A Taser was ineffective. The man was eventually shot twice in the abdomen and died an hour later. His name hasn´t been released.
