Sonora Pass Closes Due To Weather

Published May 4, 2026 6:20 am

Tuolumne, CA — Due to precipitation in the higher elevations, after briefly reopening last week, Highway 108 Sonora Pass is closed at Kennedy Meadows. Travelers will need to postpone their plans for the time being. Caltrans reports that there is no estimated reopening time.

Caltrans adds that Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass remains closed through the current weather system. It will be reassessed later this week regarding a potential seasonal opening. The Highway 4 closure starts about half a mile west of Lake Alpine.

Yosemite National Park has not indicated when Highway 120 Tioga Pass will open for the season.
