A’s Will Limit Stadium Capacity To Smallest In Majors
Oakland, CA — The Oakland Athletics will be cutting back on the number of seats available for sale in the Coliseum.
In an attempt to make what team president Michael Crowley calls a “more intimate ballpark atmosphere,” the team will no longer sell tickets to the top deck of the stadium.
Closing off the upper deck will reduce the stadium´s capacity to a little more than 34,000 next year, down from a capacity of 44,000.
The A´s are hoping that the smaller capacity will increase demand and lead to fans buying more tickets in advance.
The A´s total attendance last year of a little more than 2.1 million people ranked eighth in the American League.
