San Andreas, CA — With so many youth having nothing to do, a new Boy Scouts of America District covering Calaveras and Tuolumne counties has been formed.
Calaveras County Administrative Officer Tom Mitchell made the announcement Monday. Mitchell will serve as the local district´s chairman.
A redistricting proposal was recently approved by scout´s executive council, which created the new Golden Heritage District. It will have 600 cub and boy scouts.
To help get the district started, fundraisers are being planned for January 26. Tuolumne County will host a breakfast and Calaveras will have a lunch, both featuring former San Francisco 49er Bubba Paris as guest speaker. Paris was also a boy scout.
