More Arrests Expected In Hurricane Fraud Case

Bakersfield, CA — Federal authorities expect to make more arrests in their investigation of a Red Cross call center where a group of temporary employees are accused of stealing money intended for hurricane victims.

So far, 49 Bakersfield area residents who worked at the center have been indicted on federal wire fraud charges.

Seven have cut plea deals. Employees at the center are accused of filing fake claims to get pin numbers for friends and family to claim money at Western Union outlets.
