There are several events planned for the first weekend in June in the Mother Lode.
First, on Friday, the Humane Society of Tuolumne County is hosting the two-day Rummage to the Rescue Sale at its Jamestown location. Organizers share “Every purchase helps local shelter pets on their way to loving forever homes.” The event is from 9AM to 3PM, and features home goods, pet supplies, décor, kids’ items, and more items that are gently used and sometimes brand new! Friday is also First Fridays Music at Murphys Community Park. The band playing from 5 to 8 PM will be Star Dogs. The list of other concerts is in the event listing here.
The Sonora Farmers Market is this Saturday morning.
The Spring Vendor Fair will be at the Sonora Moose Lodge this Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Local vendors, a raffle, and burgers will be for sale during lunch time. Portion of the proceeds will benefit Interfaith Community Services as detailed here.
In addition to the second day of the Humane Society Rummage sale, the Adopt-a-Pet Day will begin Saturday at 9 AM. It is the 3rd annual event and a state wide event. Locally the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Animal Control is participating, with adoption fees paid for by CalAnimals, SF Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA) and the ASPCA.
The UCCE Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will be holding an Open Garden Day at the Demonstration Garden on Saturday from 10AM to 1PM. Location and more details are here.
Sierra Senior Providers will host lunch and bingo this Saturday and on the 1st Saturday of each month from 11 AM to 3 PM. Adults over 18 only, bring a friend or two, lunch will be served at 11:30 PM. Sign-up at the Sonora Senior Center front desk for $15 with the proceeds benefiting the Senior Center Lunch Program.
The Yosemite Chivalry & Fantasy Festival begins Saturday at 10 AM and continues till 10 PM and is also on Sunday from 10 AM until 5 PM at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. The events promises a magical weekend of knights in shining armor clashing swords, joust, archery competitions, and axe throwing contests.
The Chicken in a Barrel Fundraiser will be held at Murphys Community Park on Saturday from Noon to 5 PM. Event organizers state the 37th annual event will be “Bigger, tastier, and more fun than ever!” All proceeds support the students of Albert Michelson Elementary School. All are invited to the celebration of community, local generosity, and the amazing students of Michelson Elementary. An online auction begins Friday, details are in the event listing.
A Night of Hope Dinner and Music with the Lack Family Band will be held Saturday at the Olde White Barn. The event begins at 5 PM, ticket details are in the event listing here.
Wine and Whimsy at the Dunbar House in Murphys on Saturday will include tri-tip, sausages, sides, desserts, wine, music, dancing, raffles, and silent auctions. Join Soroptimist International of Calaveras County for its fundraiser “Magic In Every Pour” to help local women and girls gain access to training and education to achieve economic empowerment and reach their dreams and goals. Sunday Father Suresh and the community of St. Patrick’s Parish welcome all to a celebration of Corpus Christi. There will be a walk from St. Patrick’s Church through Courthouse Square beginning at 10:30 AM as detailed here.
The Sonora Pride event is this Sunday at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds beginning at noon. There will be a free barbecue from 1-3 PM, line dancing, a drag show, multiple singalongs, the Raging Grannies, vendors a food drive raffle and a bake sale.
Henry V opens next Friday, June 12th at Murphys Creek Theatre.
