Update: Turkey Fire Stopped, Cause Still Under Investigation

Update at 9:40 am: While the footprint of the Turkey Fire is no longer expanding, CAL Fire estimates that containment is 46%. Additional lines will be constructed today.

Crews continue to assess damage to infrastructure and structures near Pattison Road and Bandy Lane.

Original story posted at 7:15 am: Wallace, CA — The forward progress of the Turkey Fire in Wallace has been stopped at 48 acres, according to the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department.

It ignited Wednesday afternoon in the area of Pattison Road and Brandy Lane. It was near the trout pond at Lake Cammanche. Both a structure and a vehicle were destroyed. Crews plan to remain on the scene today putting out hot spots, improving control lines, and assessing the damage. An estimated 133 firefighters are assigned to the incident.

Cooperating agencies include the East Bay Municipal Utility District, Calaveras Consolidated Fire, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, CHP, PG&E, San Andreas Fire, Angels City Fire, Altaville Melones Fire, Central Fire, Murphys Fire, and Clements Fire.

Evacuation orders nearby were issued yesterday by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, but they have now all been lifted.
