The State Assembly wants to crack down on motor scooters in California.
A bill it passed today would require licenses or permits to drive scooters – and ban drivers from modifying their exhausts.
The bill aims to reduce accidents involving underage drivers and cut noise from altered exhausts.
It also makes sellers tell buyers they can´t legally modify tailpipes to make them louder.
Backers say injuries and deaths have increased with the scooters´ popularity.
The bill goes now to the Senate for consideration.
