Car Dealers Will Stay Strong Over DMV

Published May 19, 2004 6:55 am : Updated Jan 31, 2009 4:29 pm

The state Senate has rejected a bill to weaken the power of California car dealers to challenge decisions made by the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Senate voted against making the state´s New Motor Vehicle Board stop hearing appeals of disciplinary actions against new car dealers.

The nine-member board consists of four new car dealers and five members of the public. Consumer groups say a board of car dealers shouldn´t be able to overturn DMV disciplinary actions regarding other car dealers.
