A Sonora man was killed, his passenger injured after he lost control of his pickup truck hit an oak tree then plunged 300 feet down a steep embankment ..
The crash around 10:30 p.m. last night — near the bridge on Jacksonville Road, south of Stent — killed 38 year-old Thomas Brennan. CHP´s Tom Wills says high speed was a factor in the crash.
Officials say 29 year-old Sara Foster of Tuolumne was ejected from the 2004 Chevy Silverado after the truck went air borne and slammed into the tree. Foster was able to crawl up to the road where a passerby spotted her and called for help.
Brennan died at the scene from major head trauma . CHP says neither were wearing seat belts.
Jamestown and Groveland Fire crews were called to the scene. A rope rescue team was needed to get the fatally injured victim back up to the road.
