Update at 3:25 p.m.: The CHP has cleared two nearby crashes on Highway 108 this afternoon. The second collision was cleared first. It happened just after 1 p.m. at the Sturgis intersection. An electric company work truck overturned onto the shoulder and has been removed, with traffic moving freely. The CHP now reports the initial crash just before 1 p.m., a couple of roads down at the Via Este Road intersection, has been cleared. The wreckage blocked the westbound lane of the highway, and one person was trapped inside and had to be freed by first responders.

Update at 2:45 p.m.: The CHP remains on the scene of two nearby crashes on Highway 108. The CHP now reports that one of the vehicles in the first collision was a large tree removal work truck and could take a while to remove. Additionally, the pickup in the second rollover crash was also a work truck for an electrician business. Find crash details below.

Original post at 1:50 p.m.: Two close-by but separate crashes on Highway 108 are slowing traffic.

The CHP reports the first collision happened just before 1 p.m. at the Via Este intersection, where officers report two vehicles were involved, with one t-boning the other. The westbound lane of the highway is blocked, and an ambulance has been called to the scene with no details on injuries.

The second crash came minutes later, just after 1 p.m., two intersections over and past Draper Mine Road at the Sturgis Road intersection. A Chevy pickup overturned onto its roof, and an ambulance is responding to the scene. Both these crashes involved occupants being pinned inside the vehicles. Traffic is slow-going, so motorists may want to find an alternative route. We’ll have an update as soon as more information comes into the newsroom.
