Two young girls who became lost while snowboarding at a Tahoe ski resort were found cold but safe about 10 hours later.
The Placer County sheriff´s office says the 9 and 11 year-old girls from Suisun City, California were snowboarding at Northstar Ski Resort yesterday. They were reported missing when they failed to meet their parents as arranged at midday.
One rescue team discovered a pair of small footprints in deep snow near an out-of-bounds lookout chair shortly after 9 p-m. Rescuers followed the tracks and found the girls two hours later near a residential area.
Authorities say the 9-year-old suffered mild hypothermia and both were taken to a hospital for checkups.
