Investigation Underway After Body Located In Columbia

Columbia, CA — A deceased person was found in a waterway near the Cattle Drive Trail area of Columbia on Monday.

A community member who was in the area located the body and contacted authorities.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reports, “TCSO deputies, detectives, and coroner personnel responded to the area and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.  The decedent has been identified as 40-year-old Jacob Wayne Ramsey of Sonora.”

The sheriff’s office adds that an autopsy is anticipated to be conducted in the coming days to assist in determining the cause and manner of death.

Adding, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available and is appropriate to share.”
