Officials at Columbia College have announced the date of the tribute concert for Cornelius Bumpus.
The legendary saxophone player, who died of a heart attack on his way to play a concert series in the Motherlode, will be remembered on the afternoon of Sunday February 22nd.
The list of performers includes the Columbia Jazz Choir, Marvin McFadden of Huey Lewis and The News, and the Columbia Kicks Big Band with the “Bump Band” rhythm and blues tour group.
It´s happening a week from this Sunday, at the Sierra Building of the Sonora Fairgrounds. Tickets are available for a donation of 20 dollars per person, with the proceeds going to the Cornelius Bumpus children college scholarship fund.
Advance tickets go on sale Tuesday.
