Officials have released more reports of found explosives in Calaveras County.
A burglary investigation led to much more than Calaveras County authorities expected Sunday and yesterday.
Around 8:30 Sunday morning, deputies with the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department found a vehicle at a Douglas Flat towing company, which had allegedly been used in recent burglaries in the Vallecito area.
A follow-up resulted in the arrest of 22-year-old James Hall, from the Avery area, who they found hiding in an RV trailer behind the Avery Hotel. The arrest also led to recovered property from the Vallecito burglaries, as well as a variety of hazardous chemicals and blasting caps in the area of White Pines Lake. The Calaveras County HAZMAT team was summoned to safely dispose of the chemicals and explosives.
Then, upon returning to the victim´s property in Vallecito Monday, deputies discovered approximately 100 sticks of dynamite. The Calaveras County HAZMAT Team was again called, along with CDF and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, to take care of those explosives.
Officials say the investigation continues.
