Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County Arts Council is presenting a seven county touring exhibition in Tuolumne County August 21 to September 18. This first of its kind traveling show will be at the at the Chakachi-no Learning Center in Jamestown and is supported by a grant from Sierra Jobs First.
Featuring artists from across the region, “From Here to There” presents a portrait of the Sierra—its landscapes, ecosystems, communities, and cultural identities—while inviting viewers to reflect on the relationships between land, people, and place. The exhibit includes work from Tuolumne County artists Eleanor BonBon, Sara Dykman, ayreÁnna Ross and EM Sargent. Event organizers describe the exhibit as giving residents and visitors the chance to experience the depth and diversity of art rooted in the Sierra while contributing to a broader dialogue about life, creativity, and connection in the Sierra.
See the exhibit during Gallery Hours until Friday, September 18th at these times: 4-8pm Thursdays, 4-8pm Fridays; 12-8pm Saturdays, and 12-4pm Sundays. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays see below for special events, workshops and speaking circles.
The exhibition is the inaugural project of the Sierra Seven Arts Alliance, a newly formed regional network of arts organizations working collaboratively to strengthen cultural infrastructure, expand opportunities for artists, and build a more connected creative economy across California’s Central and Eastern Sierra.
Executive director of Tuolumne County Arts Alliance, Laurie Livingston, details, “With gratitude to leadership and administration by the Mariposa County Arts Council, the Sierra Seven Arts Alliance comprises of partners from Arts and Culture Alpine County, Amador County Arts Council, C5 Studios Community Arts Center, Calaveras County Arts Council, Inyo Council for the Arts, Mono Arts Council and Tuolumne County Arts.”
Funding for the collaboration was made possible by the Sierra Business Council’s Sierra Jobs First initiative, which supports regional strategies for economic resilience, workforce development, and sustainable industry growth. The Sierra Seven’s goal is to invest in cross-county collaboration and shared programming to strengthen regional networks, expand visibility for artists, and foster deeper connections between communities across the Sierra region.
The Tuolumne County opening reception will be from 5 – 8 PM on Friday, August 21st as detailed in the events listing here.

The exhibit will culminate with a closing Community Potluck on Friday, September 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
