Suspect Arrested in San Andreas Assault Case

A man was arrested last week in San Andreas on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Thursday afternoon, Calaveras County Sheriff´s deputies investigated an assault after emergency medical staff were dispatched to a medical call. The 26-year-old victim, from San Andreas, was in surgery at the time. Afterward, deputies learned the suspect had hit the victim in the hand with a set of long-handled pruning shears, and threw a broken wooden handle at him too.

The victim suffered torn tendons and crushed fingers along with a cut to the neck.

37-year-old Douglas Alameda was arrested at his residence without incident, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department, and is being held without bail at the Calaveras County Jail.

The investigation continues according to the Sheriff´s Department.
