Keeping The Stanislaus National Forest Clean

Tuolumne County, CA—The Stanislaus National Forest is difficult to keep clean during the busy summer season, according to the US Forest Service, as visitors leave lots of garbage.

The Sugar Pine Ranger Station helps the forest by collecting and disposing of about five tons of rubbish every week. As the image box photo shows, rangers have found lawn chairs, grills, and other trash. Forest officials ask visitors to do their part to keep the public lands clean and follow these tips below:

• Put your trash in a garbage can!
• Garbage can be full? Take it home with you!
• Pick up any trash you see, even if it’s not yours!
• Use reusable containers when you head up the hill; reusable means less trash!

Forest officials shared that, as Woodsy the owl says, “Lend a Hand, Care for the Land.”
