Update at 7:23 am: The CHP indicates that the roadway is now clear following the earlier incident detailed below.
Original story at 6:28 am: Chinese Camp, CA — Numerous officials are on the scene of an incident in the area of Highway 120 near Friendship Hill Road in the Chinese Camp area.
The CHP reports that a full-size cow and a calf appear to have been hit. The incident was reported to officials at 4:42 am and cleanup is underway. The roadway was completely blocked earlier, and the CHP indicates that the animals have now been moved to the roadway shoulder. Travelers should prepare for activity in the area as cleanup still continues. Animal Control has also been requested to respond.
The CHP notes that the two animals were struck by a vehicle, and the details are still under investigation.
