Procession for firefighters killed battling Dome Fire - US Forest Service Image
Mariposa, CA — Firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other first responders paid their respects to the two firefighters who tragically died in a helicopter crash while assigned to the Dome Fire in Yosemite.
On Monday, during the noon hour, a procession that started at the Mariposa Airport, traveled over to the Mt. Bullion Cutoff, then toward Oakdale, and eventually ended in Modesto. Many were lined up along the roadway to pay final respects. Click here to watch a video taken by the US Forest Service.
The pilots, identified by their employer as Greg King and Ryan Cutter, were flying a Eurocopter AS32 Super Puma helicopter when it crashed on Sunday.
The incident remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The Dome Fire is estimated to be 3,420 acres with 15% containment.
