A city council meeting on Monday will address the still-uncertain issue of what will happen to the seat that´s soon to be vacated by County Supervisor-Elect Liz Bass.
She´ll officially resign from the Sonora City Council Monday as well.
What happens next still isn´t clear.
Either a special election will be held, or the Mayor and remaining Council members will appoint a new council person to finish the remaining part of Bass´s term, which starts January First and ends in June of 2006, which is the next city council election.
The special election option is more expensive though, say city officials.
Bass was the first woman mayor in the city of Sonora, from 2000 to 2002, and has been on the city council for ten years.
