A Calaveras County rape suspect was sentenced yesterday.
Kem Robert George will serve eight years in state prison, and 85 percent of the sentence must be carried out since he pleaded to a “serious” crime under California law.
And when he´s released from prison, George will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
On September 9th, George pleaded guilty to one count of committing a sexual assault on a child.
The incident happened in 1997.
The victim and her mother both addressed the court and asked for the maximum sentence.
