The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced this morning that the suspension on yard debris burning has been lifted.
CDF Battalion Chief Richard Imlach says the order became effective at 10am yesterday.
“We´re lifting our burning suspension that we had on for the summer, due to the fact that the rains have eased the fire hazard. We´re still requiring burn permits, but people can burn with a burn permit.”
Imlach also says the suspension should remain lifted, if the conditions cooperate.
“It will continue until the end of fire season, and then they won´t need a burn permit. However, they do have to follow the Air Pollution Control District Burn Day Status.”
Even if you have a permit, you´re liable if the fire gets out of control, and you´ll have to pay the costs of fighting the fire.
If you want more information, contact your county´s Air Pollution Control District.
