There were all kinds of classic cars in Standard over the weekend… so many in fact, Standard Road had to be closed.
It was the American Graffiti fundraiser… hosted by Star 92.7´s Very Own Maryann Curmi.
Curmi introduced musical acts, announced prize winners, and explained the reason for the Saturday gathering: to raise money to purchase a dictionary for every third grader in Tuolumne County.
There was also a live vocal performance by local singer Jennifer Grant.
Organizer Don Smith said with a goal of 6000 dollars, they actually raised about 8000 dollars.
And he says they couldn´t have done it without the help of the town of Standard and all the fundraiser sponsors.
The event was sponsored by the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools and the Sonora 49er Rotary.
