Planned Power Outages across Mother Lode - PG&E Image
Tuolumne County, CA — Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are impacting nearly 20,000 PG&E customers between Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Mariposa counties.
The outages occurred during the nine and 10 o’clock hours on Wednesday evening, and full restoration is anticipated by at least noon on Saturday.
Impacted areas are around Tuolumne, Twain Harte, Mi Wuk Village, Sierra Village, Long Barn, Cold Springs, Pinecrest, Avery, Arnold, West Point, Railroad Flat, Buck Meadows, and Yosemite Valley.
Community Resource Centers, where people can stop by to receive supplies and information, are open at the Eproson Park in Twain Harte, the Word of Life Fellowship up Highway 108, Chapel in the Pines on Highway 4 in Arnold, and the West Point Community Hall on Highway 26.
The hours at the sites are 8 am – 10 pm, Thursday and Friday. They could be extended to Saturday if the PSPS outages continue to linger.
PG&E spokesperson Jeff Smith spoke about the outages, noting, “It is really a measure of last resort. It is when we see a combination of strong winds, very low humidity, and dry vegetation. The decision is not taken lightly. Safety is our top priority. We know that it can be a tremendous inconvenience for our customers, and we understand that. But, we are also absolutely committed to stopping catastrophic wildfires.”
Smith notes that this is one of the largest PSPS incidents in recent years.
