More than 160 aftershocks have followed today´s central California quake, but no injuries have been reported.
The earthquake was centered a few miles southeast of Parkfield.
The tiny town is located on the San Andreas Fault — in one of the world´s most seismically active areas.
A local vineyard owner says nearby trees were “shaking like brooms” and most of his water pipes burst.
The quake tipped over about three-hundred cases of wine and damaged five or six of his buildings — including his home.
The quake´s magnitude was measured at 6.0, which can cause severe damage in areas less remote than Parkfield — population 37.
As one resident put it, “I´ll take my earthquakes over those hurricanes any day.”
