A Bay Area woman was killed in a solo traffic accident Saturday night following a high speed pursuit by California Highway Patrol officers north of Sonora.
According to CHP reports just now released, officers attempted to stop the 44 year-old woman from Orinda just before 10 o´clock Saturday night on Washington and Bradford Streets for a traffic violation.
They say the woman did not stop and led officers on a pursuit north on Highway 49 at speeds up to 85 miles per hour.
After crossing the Stevenot Bridge over New Melones Lake, the woman lost control of her 2003 GMC Yukon, crossing over the highway and slamming into a rock embankment. The impact ejected the woman and two dogs in the truck. The woman died from her injuries.
