Seven firefighters have been injured battling the Tuolumne Fire burning Sunday in the rugged Tuolumne River Canyon east of Groveland.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, U.S. Forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert did not have any details on the injuries or how the firefighters were hurt.
The fire burning in a rugged and steep area off Highway 120 and Cherry Lake Road and has burnt more than 500 acres since it was first reported around 12:30 Sunday.
Campers in the area have been evacuated.
Eight fire engines, eight 20-person firefighting hand crews, six air tankers, five helicopters and several dozers are woirking the blaze.
