Firefighters have contained 70 percent of a 400-acre wildfire burning in Mariposa and expect full containment by Sunday night.
The California Department of Forestry says about 300 homes were evacuated in an area that´s about 30 miles south of Yosemite National Park. Residents are being allowed back this morning. CDF spokeswoman Jody Stanners says one home, an outbuilding, three vehicles and one boat were destroyed.
Travelers heading to the park for the holiday weekend shouldn´t expect any traffic delays. Stanners says the fire is burning heavy brush in an area off the highways.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which started yesterday on private property.
