A sports car ran off Jacksonville Road near Stent Thursday afternoon.
The Corvette plunged 100 feet over the embankment badly injuring the driver.
The accident was first reported just before 12:30 this afternoon. California Highway Patrol says the crash was just south of the Whites Bridge southwest of Jamestown.
Additional emergency units from Groveland, Twain Harte and Columbia College responded to assist in a rope rescue operation to help bring the victim back up the 100 foot embankment.
The man was airlifted by helicopter from the scene to a Modesto hospital for treatment.
CHP says just before the accident the same car was reported driving recklessly in the area at an unsafe speed.
