Low water and increased boating hazards at New Melones Lake has prompted a change at the Tuttletown boat ramp.
The Bureau of Reclamation says active boat launching has been diverted from the middle ramp to the low level boat ramp. This ramp will be operative from lake elevations 969 to 900 feet.
The low level boat ramp is reached by taking Reynolds Ferry Road west off Highway 49 for 3 miles, then on a dirt road to the left of the top of the middle ramp. Signs are in place to direct boaters to the current launch area.
The other boat launch area still accessible on the lake is located at Glory Hole Recreation Area at the middle main ramp. Angels Arm boat Ramp has been closed.
