The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will be burning about 450 acres of grass and brush in the Long Ranch today.. that´s southwest of Mariposa and south of Highway 140.
They are trying to reduce the wildland fuels accumulations and enhance range forage productivity. A number of firefighters and equipment from the local Tuolumne Calaveras CDF unit have been sent to help control the burn today. Burning is to get underway at 8 a.m.. Expect to see some smoke in that area today.
