Prosecutors in the Scott Peterson case suggest he not only cheated on his wife, Laci — he was also going broke.
He´s accused of killing his pregnant wife and dumping her body in San Francisco Bay.
Her body and the couple´s fetus later washed up on shore.
An auditor testified today that Peterson had substantial debt and his business was in trouble.
Prosecutors implied that Peterson killed his wife for the 250-thousand-dollar life insurance taken out a year before she died.
But the defense countered that Laci was set to inherit 260-thousand dollars in cash and jewelry, which would have alleviated financial stress.
Mark Geragos also noted that Scott Peterson has a good credit rating.
