Downed High Voltage Line Sparks Fire

Tuolumne County firecrews are starting mop-up after an overnight fire in the Ponderosa Hills Area.

CDF fire dispatchers say a tree branch fell into some high voltage power lines near Rainbow Road and Canyon View bringing the energized line down and sparking a one acre grass fire. The fire also burnt the deck of a home there as well.

That fire was first reported at 1:17 a.m. Saturday. PG and E crews have now shut off the power on that downed line allowing firefighters to get in and finish putting the fire out.
