Drunk driving arrests are up and traffic fatalities are down from last year´s 4th of July weekend according to the California Highway Patrol.
As of 6 a.m., 40 people have been killed in holiday weekend traffic accidents in California. The CHP says this compares with 33 at this time last Fourth of July weekend. The CHP has made more than 1,500 drunken driving arrests, compared to more than 1,300last year.
