A Ukrainian man sought for the last two years by high tech crime investigators in Northern California has been arrested in Bangkok, Thailand. Maksym Kovalchuk was nabbed Tuesday at an ice cream parlor in downtown Bangkok.
He´s accused of selling pirated software from companies like Adobe and Microsoft. Authorities say that if the products had been authentic, they would have been worth $3 million.
Kovalchuk also allegedly sold items on eBay, but never sent them. He faces charges of money laundering, trafficking in counterfeit goods, copyright infringement, and possession of unauthorized credit card information.
The Justice Department is trying to have him extradited.
