Rain Could Mean Worse Fire Season

You might think that all the rain we´re having would mean less concern over the coming fire season. Wrong. Officials say that all the rain is actually increasing the problem, because it´s encouraging the growth of fast burning grass and brush.

East Bay Regional Parks Chief Dennis Rein says now´s the time to get out the weed wacker and cut down that brush around your house. He says it should be gone before it can dry out and contribute to fire danger.

Officials say the fire season could begin as early as the end of this month in the eastern portions of the San Francisco Bay area.
