The Federal Department of Homeland Security says nearly $120 million will be made available to California to offset the state and local governments´ costs of increasing security. About 20% will go to reimburse the state, while the remainder will go to local governments.
The money is part of the $1.5 billion made available to states as part of the supplemental budget approved by Congress.
