A report says California´s large and rapidly growing Hispanic population is developing diabetes at an alarming rate. UCLA researchers say 24% of retirement-age Hispanics are diagnosed with diabetes. That´s true of 15% of Asians and 12% of whites.
The study also found that Hispanics are more likely than other populations to be uninsured. The report says diabetes is prevalent among the state´s black and American Indian populations as well. But there are many more hispanics in California. About one in three California residents are Hispanic.
