“Perry Mason” fans from across the state turned out in Fallbrook for a sale of items belonging to the author. The belongings were shared by author Erle Stanley Gardner, who died in 1970, and his second wife, Jean Bethell Gardner. She died in December at the age of 100.
Thousands of items costing as little as a buck and as much as $4,000 were sold at the estate sale over the weekend.
The items sold include books, paintings, a French cabinet and Jean Gardner´s diamond engagement ring. The ring´s price was not disclosed.

Gardner sold more than 320 million copies of his book, which is a record for an American writer.
