Corporal Brian Matthew Kennedy, one of the earliest casualties of the war in Iraq, was mourned yesterday in San Diego as a proud Marine who died fighting for the safety of his homeland.
The 25-year-old was one of 4 U.S. Marines and 8 British Marines killed March 21st during the first ground troop insertion mission in Iraq.
Kennedy was laid to rest on a windswept bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in San Diego with full military honors. A rifle squad of seven Marines fired off three rounds and a lone bugler played “Taps” as U.S. flags draping Kennedy€™s coffin were presented to his mother and father.
